Seven Kingdoms: Seowyn's Crossing
When the Gods and Primordials fought for the fate of Tol in the Dawn War, they seemed evenly matched at first. Over time, however, the Gods were slowly losing ground due to attrition. Just as things seemed darkest, the Gods received reinforcements from a surprising source: the spirit of Tol itself.
The life breathed into Tol by the Gods had slowly awoken its spiritual aspect. Various entities, known collectively as the Primal Spirits, rose up to make a deal with the Gods. In exchange for the Gods’ departure to the Astral Sea, the Primal Spirits would waken the power of the world itself against the Primordials. The treaty was agreed upon, and the combined might of the Gods and the Primal Spirits brought the Primordials to a terrible defeat. The Gods departed, and the Primal Spirits settled back down, infusing all of Tol with a primal power that some mortals have learned to call upon.
Although there are many Primal Spirits, and some seem to appear and disappear from their number with the world’s need, there are some who are known by a title, if not a name. These include Death, the Fate Weaver, the Great Bear, the Phoenix, the Primal Beast, and the World Healer, and the World Serpent.
