Seven Kingdoms: Seowyn's Crossing
When battle is joined, some warriors rise to the top as obvious leaders. They command warriors, inspire them with stirring words, or cover their retreats. Some lead by example, surging into battle themselves, while others sacrifice their own glory to aid a more powerful warrior under their command. In either case, these warrior-commanders are called Warlords.
Warlords are capable leaders, aiding their allies with protection, helping them find openings in their enemies armor. A group led by a warlord tends to operate as a well-oiled machine, moving as a unit, striking with precision and power. They may not have access to the amount of healing that a party with a cleriic does, but they often need less due to the warlord’s cunning manuevers.
Warlords can come from any culture. Although their martial prowess generally comes from training and education, a lot of their ability comes from natural intelligence and charisma. As a result, many warlords come from the officerial ranks of various armies, or else from the nobility.
