Warlock

Arcane powers come from many sources. Although some people develop powers spontaneously (such as Sorcerers), the vast majority must study for many years in order to harness arcane abilities (such as Bards and Wizards). For some, however, this path is too slow. Instead, they forge a pact with eerie and sometimes sinister entities. Those who follow this path to power are known as Warlocks.

Warlocks are the subject of a lot of prejudice. Many have not forgotten what happened in [[Falwyth] many years ago and feel that a warlock’s pact is too close to the bargains that were struck then. Tiefling warlocks, in particular, are subject to a grat deal of scrutiny. Although many warlocks are far more benign, there’s no denying that all are subject to some amount of alien influence. Those who follow a dark pact or an infernal pact may be more overtly sinister, but even the less obvious star, vestige, and fey pacts are drawing their powers from entities who may not have the best interests of any mortal in mind.

Any race could have warlocks in its midst. Fiery, passionate races might be more common warlocks, especially tieflings, Elves, and, ironically, Dragonborn. Elves, Eladrin, and Gnomes are most commonly fey pact warlocks. Tieflings aren’t any more likely to be infernal pact warlocks than other races, but Drow are by far the majority of dark pact warlocks.
