Seven Kingdoms: Seowyn's Crossing
The edge of civilization provides a tempting target for those forces that seek to drown the light in darkness. When the armies of chaos seek to exploit the borderlands, they areoften turned back by small companies of warriors wielding weapons in both hands or bending powerful bows back and raining arrows down upon them. These guardiands of the wastelands are known as rangers.
Rangers are often stereotyped as loners or antisocial misfits because most people only see them one at a time. In the wilderness, however, rangers often travel in small companies. When they perceive a threat, they attack, using guerilla tactics, wipe out the problem, and then vanish back into the wilds.
Rangers are most common among races who favor stealth over strength. Elves, Halflings, Shifters, and Half-Orcs all have strong ranger traditions in their cultures. Those Half-Elves who never find where they fit in often findthat the ranger’s path is a way for them to aid their peoples without having to stay in constant contact with them.
